  • Dissertation: “Aligning the Stars Over Dixie: Atlanta’s Civic Interest in National Movie Culture.” Examines the regulation, reception and use of movies in Atlanta during the first half of the 2oth century, especially in view of Atlanta’s emergence as representative of the New South, and in relation to southern urban anxieties over issues of gender, race, and youth. Advised by Dr. Kathryn Fuller-Seeley. Comprehensive exams in US film history/industry, cultural studies, and narrative.
